Sea Teacher 2024
Hello Everyone, I'm Akromu Wajihan
Welcome to my Blog!

About Me
Hey there, I'm Akromu Wajihan, an undergrad at the Teaching and Education Faculty, studying English Language Education at Sriwijaya Indralaya University. I’ve always felt that our future is guided by a higher power. But to really shine in the future, we need both prayer and determination. There's a quote that resonates with me: "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, and Today is a Gift—hence, it is called the Present." This reminds me that the past is out of our hands, the future is unknown, but the present is a precious gift from God. So, let's make the most of it by focusing on our goals and not getting stuck in the past.I've achieved quite a bit so far. I memorized 30 Juz in just over a month at the National Al-Qur'an Tahfiz Quarantine Foundation in 2021, won 1st place in the MTQ UNSRI Hifzil 5 Juz Men's competition, and placed 3rd in the Lively MTQ FKIP 2021 murottal competition. I've also read prayers at the 2021 Islamic National Webinar Youth & Boundaries Prayer and at the SEESPA ENGLISH OLYMPIC 2022. I was named SEESPA's Favorite in SEESPA LOOKING FOR TALENT 2022, joined GenBI Sumsel 2023, took 2nd place in the MTQ FKIP UNJA 2023, and got accepted into the Sea Teacher 2024 Program. But, in the end, I'm not a special person. These achievements are within anyone's reach. Not everyone will accomplish them, but with spirit and focus, you can achieve your dreams

Our Journey
October 8th was the day we headed to Manila, Philippines. My family and friends all gathered at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport to see us off. On one hand, I felt excited and happy because I was finally getting the chance to study abroad. But on the other hand, I felt a bit sad because leaving that day meant I would be away from my family and friends for a whole month.

College Friends
Despite the mixed emotions, I knew this was the day I had been looking forward to, and I wanted to make it a joyful one.
After saying our goodbyes, our beloved lecturer Dr. Rita Inderawati guided us to check in and board the plane to the Philippines.
Airplane
After hours of flying, we finally arrived at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport. There, we were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dana, who took us to our accommodation to rest after the long journey.
Jollibee
The next day, Prof. Victoria invited us to dine at a famous local restaurant, Jollibee. Prof. Victoria was so funny and kind. She treated us to a meal and took photos with us. Afterward, we headed back to our accommodation.
The day after, our buddies from the Philippines Normal University (PNU) took us on a tour around the campus. They were very kind and attentive, showing us around, taking photos, eating together, and explaining the history of PNU. Overall, it was a fantastic day.

A few days later, we, along with Dr. Rita Inderawati, were invited to attend the official welcoming ceremony for Sea Teacher students at PNU.
Traditional Dress
At the event, we Indonesian students performed the hymn of Sriwijaya University, Indonesia's national songs, and more. I even performed a solo, singing "Pasilyo" in Filipino, which really hyped up the crowd. PNU students also put on many performances, like singing and playing musical instruments.

It was an exhausting day but also incredibly enjoyable.
Mr. Erasto C. Fresnoza & Margaret
After a week had passed, we were finally directed to start our main activity: practicum. We were invited to Araullo High School, and upon arrival, we met our mentors who would guide us throughout the practicum. I was chosen to be mentored by Mr. Erasto Fresnoza, whom I call Mr. Russel. He was incredibly kind and attentive, always ready to help and guide me through the process.

On the final day, we immersed ourselves in classroom observations and completed our teaching practice. It was a delight to engage with the students and take charge of the class, showcasing our skills and knowledge in the final demo.

In our free time, we usually explore Manila together. We visit museums, hit the malls, try different foods and drinks, and even got to taste a local delicacy called balut. While the main focus of our trip is the practicum, it doesn’t mean we can't have some fun too!
